Rules:

  • We are looking only for the names of the pieces of music, not the artists. However, there is a pattern to these clips. All answers must follow that pattern.
  • Whoever gets the most right gets 5 points toward World Trivia Night. The next best score gets 4 pts, the third best gets 3, the next best gets 2 and everybody who submits a sheet gets 1. It is possible, and indeed likely, that several teams will get 2 points, several more will get 3, and so on. You do not have to have an answer for all 26 items: you can get 1 point if you submit a sheet with just one answer, even if it’s wrong.
  • Your results will be found on your team’s marathon round sheet at World Trivia Night.
  • Given the nature of the music marathon, there can be no appeals: the scores entered will be considered final, notwithstanding human or other error.
  • You are permitted (and even encouraged) to use any lawful means of finding answers, including asking friends and family and using Internet searches.
  • We cannot email the music file to you or send you a version on CD, sadly. However, somebody on your team should be able to do so.
  • Email your answers to paul@triviahalloffame.com by noon of Friday, October 26.
    • You may use this Word form, or create your own.
    • We will confirm each receipt of entries received before Friday, October 19.
    • YOUR ANSWERS MUST BE SENT FROM THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS USED TO REGISTER YOUR TEAM. (This is to prevent people from submitting false entry sheets for other teams.)
    • Entries MUST include your team’s name and a phone number we can use to verify the entry, if necessary.
    • Once you send your entry in, you cannot retract, amend or replace it. You can, however, contact us if you forgot to include your team name.

Tips:

  • This may seem extremely hard, but once you figure out the pattern, more of them will fall into place. Even so, this is designed to be quite difficult.
  • Don’t just think of songs you hear on the radio. Think of all the places you hear music.
  • Some of these tracks are, frankly, evil. Even if they sound completely unfamiliar, there is a good chance you know them in a different context.
  • There is some reference within the collection of music clips to the meta-theme of World Trivia Night itself.
  • There is a small tactical advantage to having your entry in early. When there are not many entries, there is more time to investigate alternate answers that may also be right, which becomes a precedent. As the entries pile up, the judging becomes more inflexible. Also, early entries make Internet delays less of a problem.

All the answers will be on this page the weekend after the event.
